Jean DeWolf, MA

Academic Specialist

With a strong foundation in literacy and a deep commitment to supporting the whole child, Jean brings both expertise and heart to our team.

A graduate of Chapman University with a Master of Arts in Education and an emphasis in Curriculum & Instruction, Jean is highly skilled in evidence-based reading practices and specializes in decoding, fluency, and comprehension—the core pillars of structured literacy and its application across diverse learning profiles.

Jean’s career spans several decades as an elementary educator, Reading Interventionist, and specialist supporting English Learners and students with special needs. A South Bay resident for more than 30 years, she brings a deep understanding of the local community and the ability to connect authentically with parents, offering both educational guidance and a strong partnership rooted in trust and shared goals.

Known for her thoughtful, creative, and student-centered approach, Jean is deeply committed to helping every child feel capable, confident, and successful—both academically and emotionally. Outside of her professional life, Jean is a proud mom of two sons who share her love for the ocean—her 22-year-old serves as an LA County Lifeguard, and her 20-year-old is a collegiate swimmer at UC San Diego. Her family recently welcomed Bolt, an energetic Cavapoo who keeps everyone smiling.

When she’s not helping students thrive, Jean enjoys traveling (her most unforgettable trip was to Antarctica, where she witnessed penguins in their natural habitat), running along the coast, and diving into a good book.

Jean’s robust background in literacy and executive functioning—paired with her warmth, professionalism, and deep community roots—creates a learning environment where students feel supported and empowered, and where parents feel heard and included every step of the way.
